# Why Is My Total Value Lower Than My Unrealized PnL?

Your **Total Value** is the overall equity in your account. It includes:

* Your initial deposit
* Realized profit and loss (PnL) from closed trades
* Unrealized profit and loss (PnL) from open trades

Sometimes, you might notice that your Total Value looks much lower than your Unrealized PnL. This happens because:

1. **Past losses or fees reduce your balance.**\
   Even if one of your open positions is showing a large unrealized profit, your account may have already taken losses on other trades. These realized losses (or fees) reduce your Total Value.
2. **Total Value is the net result.**\
   Total Value always reflects the combined effect of deposits, past realized PnL, and current unrealized PnL.
   * Example: You deposited 100 USDT.
     * Trade A is showing +1000 USDT unrealized profit.
     * Trade B was already closed at –1050 USDT loss.
     * Total Value = 100 – 1050 + 1000 = 50 USDT.

So even though Unrealized PnL shows +1000 USDT, your Total Value is only 50 USDT, because it also accounts for your previous losses.
